Empowering Girls and Young Women
In this theme area, youth connect, communicate, and comment using multimedia and digital tools to share their ideas for girls’ empowerment, demonstrate their potential, and take action in their communities. While every project empowers girls and young women by giving them a voice and increasing their skills, the following project specifically focuses on educating participants about girls’ rights through human rights projects and focusing on women in the community through service projects.
Girls Rising Project
Participants are encouraged to watch “Girl Rising” and then have their students share their reflections by posting to the Girls Rising forum on iEARN. As part of their discussions with other classes, students are encouraged to share ideas about what they can do to make the situation of girls in the world and in their own country better. Where possible, participants are invited to arrange Skype conference and share their own learning and learn from each other.
